Carriers for transfers of four wall paintings, dates to first half of the 19th century,_ parish church of
St Mary Magdalene, Ivanec, Croatia
_
SUMMARY
The carriers were made for the Chapel of the parish church in the place of Ivanec. The wall paintings of four evangelists were made by using the Fresco technique. The paintings were moved from the dome fields using the Staco technique. The decision for their removal was made due to the findings of the well preserved, Baroque Frescos, dated to 18th century and situated behind the initial paintings. The carriers were made correspondingly to the dimensions of the wall paintings (220 x 160 cm) and were flexible and strong enough to support their weight. Carriers were made using polyester resin, glass fiber, and aluminum armature which gave the support to large dimensioned transfers.
Work was done by art conservation company Ksaver, leader of the project was Mr. Grzegorz Rodak, MA.
